Our History

Nieto & Nieto Lawyers emerged at a critical moment for the Colombian economy. It was founded on December 14, 2000, in response to the financial crisis caused by the UPAC system, which affected millions of Colombians since the late 1990s. The firm’s founder, Jaime Nieto Pérez, holds a Doctorate in Law and Jurisprudence and sought to provide legal advice and solutions to those who had been harmed by market imbalances.

Thanks to the passion and discipline in helping those affected by the financial crisis, in 2002 the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce awarded the firm the distinction “Entrepreneur’s Code of Ethics”, recognizing the excellence of its service and its contribution to Co

Since then, the firm has strengthened its services across multiple fields, including international commercial contract negotiation, mergers and acquisitions, taxes and foreign trade, intellectual property, regulatory and health law, competition and consumer protection, national and international litigation and arbitration, among others.

Similarly, since 2019, Nieto & Nieto Lawyers has had a presence in Istanbul, Turkey, to meet the demand from European investors interested in the Latin American market, as well as to provide ongoing support to Colombian entrepreneurs seeking access to European and Asian markets.
